Have you noticed the perennial flowers and freshly planted flower seedlings around the Sharing Farm?
These are all thanks to the Flower Power team!
The team consists of a small group of committed volunteers who have been coming to the Farm at least once a week since February to plant, tend seedlings, weed, transplant and care for two dozen beds around the healing garden and two long beds at the Farm’s perimeter.
When we asked one of the team members how the group came to be, she told us that "it just seemed so natural to try to grow and sell flowers for the Farm. It was like a two-for-one idea. Beautifying the Farm and profiting at the same time."
She explained how even though none of the team members had any flower bouquet-making experience, they had all been volunteering at the Farm for several years. With the help of YouTube videos, they gained the confidence to embark on this fantastic learning experience.
We are so grateful to the Flower Power team for all the time and energy they have put into the Farm, and we can't wait to see the beautiful bouquets they make this year!
