she/her
Born and raised on the unceded, ancestral territories of the xwməθkwəy̓əm
(Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations,
Amanda grew up as a city girl with the somewhat universal millennial dream of
becoming a marine biologist. While she did dabble in that field for a bit, it wasn't until
she went to the lands of the Blackfoot people of the Canadian Plains (so-called
Lethbridge, Alberta) to work in agricultural laboratory research that she was exposed to
the possibilities of a career in agriculture.
With a desire to learn how to shape a more environmentally, socially, and economically
sustainable food system, Amanda studied and completed her Bachelor of Applied
Science in Sustainable Agriculture at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, gained
invaluable experience working on small-scale farms, and is entering her second year
with the Sharing Farm.
Off the farm, Amanda enjoys hanging out with friends and is the type of person who
cycles through different seasons of hobbies, which include reading, drawing,
embroidery, swing dancing, and skiing. She is currently in a reading season.
