Delegates of the Sustainable Cities International Network Annual Symposium will be visiting The Sharing Farm as part of site visit to Terra Nova Rural Park. This is a closed event only for SCI delegates.
“This year, members and invited guests will discuss how to accelerate innovation for sustainability in three theme areas: energy, food and water. Symposium delegates will explore case studies where challenges to innovation have been overcome and examine institutional arrangements that enable innovation to flourish. The Symposium will include keynote presentations by : The Symposium will include keynote presentations by Michael Geller, President of The Geller Group and Adjunct Professor with the SFU Centre for Sustainable Community Development, and Michael Heeney, Principle and Executive Director, with Bing Thom Architects. Cutting edge initiatives in energy, agriculture, and water management will be profiled by guest speakers as well as in guided tours throughout the region. Site visits include Vancouver’s Olympic Village and its Neighbourhood Energy Utility; Richmond’s award winning Terra Nova Rural Park and the farm that feeds communities while training producers; and East Clayton, a model sustainable community that used green infrastructure as one of its defining principles. “
