We have an incredible amount of generous supporters here at the The Sharing Farm and we want to make sure that they are recognized for the contributions that have been made over the years.
Our relationship with Lafarge has developed over the last three years to be extremely beneficial not only to The Farm but also to our extended community. To begin, they have been an enthusiastic corporate volunteer group, dedicating many hours of work out in our fields. Their contributions continue on with their involvement in the construction of our beloved Mary’s Barn. Back when the Barn was in the development stages, the plant manager of the Lafarge’s Richmond cement plant, Pascal Bouchard, caught wind of the project and asked how they could help. This resulted in them donating all of the concrete for the foundation and footings for the project. Mary’s Barn has since become an integral part of The Farm’s operations as it provides equipment storage, facilities for vegetable washing and packing, cold storage, and a place to hang our garlic!
Their steady support was had again last winter when we embarked on building another greenhouse, which Lafarge graciously donated the footings for. Thanks to their contribution we were able to grow over 500 lbs of vegetables in the winter months; enabling us to donate to the food bank all year around!
Lafarge are also partners in our Neighbour Basket program which means that they have given the gift of food dignity to a local low-income family by providing them with fourteen weeks worth of fresh, gorgeous vegetables. We are so grateful for this foundational relationship with a fellow community orientated and sustainable organization. We thank you for your support, we look forward to future collaborations!
