It may be grey and dreary outside, but our greenhouse is full to the brim with lush greens.
Through a grant from the Richmond Community Foundation, The Sharing Farm was able to fill a gap in winter vegetables and grow fresh greens for donation to the Richmond Food Bank. Hearty volunteers kept coming to the farm through cold and rainy winter months to grow and harvest 100s of pounds of the nutritious greens.
Fresh vegetable donations to the Food Bank and Community Meal programs slow dramatically in the colder months. At a time of year when low-income families struggle more with the mental health effects of stress from poor diets, The Farm was able to provide some much needed sunshine in the form of fresh from the earth greens.
Thank you to all of the volunteers that continued to come out to The Farm!
