Volunteers weeding the fields

Many hands make light work!

Starting this Saturday April 25th, join me for our weekly drop in volunteer program: Friends of the Fields. This volunteer program is great for anyone who has an interest in learning about the farm, and getting their hands in the dirt. Together, we will work in a team to accomplish a variety of activities. No experience is necessary, and everyone can work at their own pace. We are open to all ages and levels of ability.

Friends of the Fields will begin at 10am each Saturday, rain or shine! For the first few Saturdays, I will start us off with a short farm orientation session, and then we’ll all get to work on various spring farm tasks, including mulching, weeding, and other farm chores as necessary. If you arrive after 10am, just come and join us in the fields.

Children are welcome to come to Friends of the Fields, but we ask that they stay with their parents.

Date and Time: Every Saturday starting April 25th, from 10am – 12pm

Location: 2771 Westminster Highway

Meeting Time/Point for Orientation: Meet in the Healing Garden at 10am. The Healing Garden is the main hub of the farm – you can’t miss it! If you arrive after 10am, look for staff and volunteers in the fields. Orientation sessions will only occur for the first few Saturdays of the season, after which they will occur on an as-needed basis.

Commitment: We ask that you try and commit to attending 14 hours over the course of the season (i.e. 7 Saturdays), but encourage you to aim for 20 hours.

Volunteer registration is encouraged but not mandatory. By registering to volunteer, we can get to know our volunteers better, and better predict how may volunteers we will have on any given day. By registering, you will also get the option of signing up for The Sharing Farm newsletters. Click here to register.
