The Greenhouse has been in full swing dolling out the tomatoes, basil and from the hoops eggplants, peppers and masses of cukes.
We logged the last spring harvest from the greenhouse on the 18th June as we transitioned to the summer crops planted into the covered areas. We began logging harvests once more from 20th July, 2012 to the 30th August, 2012 … or 6 weeks. In just 6 weeks we have pulled 1076.5 lbs of veggies from the greenhouse and two hoops. I am pleasantly surprised!
This month volunteers have been doing much of the harvesting as well as harvesting and stripping herbs and preparing for the Garlic Festival. Many of our committed volunteers manned the sales tables at the amazing garlic festival this month. We were gratified to learn just under 50% of the packaged herb sold at the festival.
We have planted a selection of Asian greens and lettuce to replace the summer harvest. The seedlings are already up and been placed in the shade house to slow them down a bit. Now we have to try and aim to complete the summer harvest in time to prepare the hoops and greenhouse to receive the fall/overwinter seedlings. It will be tight.
