New Season…New Name!!
After many wonderful years as The Richmond Fruit Tree Sharing Project, we are very excited to grow with our new name…The Sharing Farm!! We hope that this makes it easier for the community to recognize us and that it better represents the kinds of work we are doing now. Our website can now be found at
Easter at The Orchard
Family Fun at The Sharing Farm Orchard & London Farm!!
April 8th – 11am at The Orchard at South Gilbert Rd.
At the Sharing Farm Orchard the kids will look for clues and have a nature scavenger hunt that directs them to London Farm’s hunt for the grand prize. The first ten kids in both categories (under 6 years and 6-12 years) will receive our grand prizes. 2 farms and lots of fun!! London Farm’s egg hunt begins at noon.

Meet at the Terra Nova Farm Centre to join this 3km nature walk that covers Terra Nova Natural Area and Terra Nova Rural Park.Registration required. *An adult must accompany children. Free.Registration Required
FOOD SKILLS BOOT CAMP W/ CHEF IAN LAI: Tue April 3 @ 7-9pm [first of 5]
Aimed at giving serious amateurs the building blocks to create delicious and nutritious meals with a minimum of fuss, this series covers fresh ingredients, grains and greens. A knife sharpening session is included for those that sign up for the five-part series. Weekly topics: Stocks, Soups, Grains and Greens, Chicken and Salmon. 5 sessions $175. Also available as a single class for $40 register online

Permaculture is sustainable land use design. Come learn its principles with hands on activities that include mulching, propagating, composting, building swales and more. Drop-in only. No registration required.

Volunteer Opportunities
Meet new people, learn about how to start and care for new plants, and stay dry in our warm greenhouse! This group is continuing in its third year and meets Thursdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, and Mondays from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. People of all ages are welcome to come out and help in the greenhouse, the hoop houses and new seeding room.
Are you good with tools? Like tinkering around a farm? The Sharing Farm is looking for a handy person to spend 1 morning or afternoon a week at the Sharing Farm helping to mow the grass, fix tools, and maintain equipment. A great position for a retired person or someone on shifts who is good with their hands. Flexible, fun and comes with veggies!
The Sharing Farm is in need of a few amateur or professional photographers who can volunteer their time to capture special events and volunteer days out at the farm. Ideal for someone with a flexible schedule, love of the outdoors, and is comfortable around large groups of people. You can sign up at the beginning of the month for events going on. Come and capture the beauty at The Sharing Farm!!
Light a Candle for Mary…
Some of you may have heard that our beloved Mary Gazetas was admitted to the hospital this month. Our thoughts have been with her and her family as she fights to regain her health. To stay updated on her recovery you can visit this website where family is posting daily news. Mary we miss you and know you will be on your feet and bringing laughter and joy to all soon!!

Open House & Season Kick-off!!
May 19th The Sharing Farm will Kick-Off the 2012 season with an Open House and you are all invited!! Come and see what workshops and programs we will be offering and how you can get involved! It will also be our first volunteer day of the season so bring some gloves and GET DIRTY!!
We will fire up our beautiful cob oven, have a few fun kids activities and host a few short workshops that will help you turn your backyard lawn into a beautiful garden!!
