This is a part-time, contract position that will coordinate all Sharing Farm operations, including the satellite orchard on  Gilbert Road.  This is a new administrative position to help the Board of Directors with the many elements of a successful community-based farm that grows food 12 months of the year for Richmond charitable agencies.

This position will work closely with a team of four part time project coordinators: Fields, Greenhouse, Orchard and a Volunteer/Event person. The Farm Administrator will report to the Society’s Board of Directors.

Location of Work: Sharing Farm – Terra Nova Rural Park Site Office

Hours of Work:  Approx. 10 to 15 hours a week. With fewer hours in winter, more in summer

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Hold regular weekly meetings with the four coordinators to develop work plans and  priorities  – Spring through to late Autumn
  • Liaise with Richmond Farm School to develop and monitor Practicum Projects March – October
  • Assist Board of Directors to hire summer staff. Monitor times sheets
  • Identify and implement effective office systems for payroll, accounts payable and track expenses, revenues. Notify Treasurer when deposits need to be made
  • Organize record keeping systems for harvest yields, and act as the registrar  for  the farm’s CSA project
  • Contact Richmond Food Bank and community church meal programs about weekly harvests and coordinate distribution schedules
  • Order supplies, materials as required
  • Monitor that all coordinators submit brief monthly progress reports as required
  •  Supervise all safety requirements as per regulations set by WORK SAFEBC, and the City of Richmond are being met
  • Be aware of the License to Occupy with the City of Richmond and advise RFTSP of all proposed activities that may need approval

 

Qualifications

Experienced office/project administrator with at least 3 to 5 years experience

Excellent leadership and motivational skills

Knowledge of a community-based farm that involves volunteers a huge asset.

Excellent communication and organizational skills

Excellent computer skills, particularly in Word & Excel, WordPress knowledge is also an asset

Payment

Based on experience and skills, $ 15 – $ 20 /hr
