Dear Friends of the Farm,
Although the cool temperatures have slowed things down, we still have much to do on the farm to ready it for the winter. If you still have a couple of hours to spare, Kareno would love to see you at the farm, Tuesdays or Saturdays between 9am-3pm.
World Food Day
Come out tomorrow to the Richmond Public Library for World Food Day from 11am-3pm. The Sharing Farm will have a booth (I hear there maybe Granny Smith apples available for sale from the Orchard), and there’ll be free food samples from Chef Ian Lai. The event celebrates the UN designated day with short films and displays from other organizations that work in food security in Richmond.
We are literally “fired up” for our AGM on Saturday, October 23rd at 11am. After a short business meeting, we’ll have soup and, if all goes well, bread baked out of our new cob oven. Come join us! Please RSVP to email@example.com so that we know how much food to provide.
Affordable Housing Conference
Although not directly about food, we know that many families in Richmond have to sacrifice nutrition and food choices because of the cost of housing. If you are interested in this issue, the Richmond Poverty Response Committee is hosting a conference entitled “Building Hope: Richmond Affordable Housing Forum” on Friday, Oct 29th (eve) and Saturday October 30th (day) at Richmond City Hall.
